DEARBORN, Michigan — Dearborn Police are continuing to investigate an Officer Involved Shooting. Officers were attempting to stop 39 year old Dearborn resident, Hassan Ibrahim Bazzi, who was traveling at high rates of speed and disregarding traffic control devices on Warren Avenue. After a brief pursuit the suspect stopped his vehicle on Schaefer near Haggerty. As a Sergeant approached the vehicle the suspect accelerated and attempted strike the Sergeant with his vehicle.
Chief Haddad stated “Both the officer and suspect received non-life threatening injuries and were treated at a local hospital. A full investigation into incident is underway. ”
The suspect, Hassan Ibrahim Bazzi, was arraigned on December 19th, on one (1) count of Assault with Intent to Murder; one (1) Count of Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm Less than Murder; One (1) Count of Assaulting/ Resisting / Obstructing a Police Officer Causing Injury; three (3) Counts of Assaulting / Resisting / Obstructing a Police Officer; and two (2) counts of Flee and Elude – 3rd Degree. Bond was set at $300,000.00 cash / surety and a GPS tether if posted. Bazzi also must surrender all travel documents. A preliminary exam is scheduled for December 28, 2011 at 9:00 am at the 19th District Court.
