DEARBORN, Michigan – The tradition comes alive when the Glass Academy opens its doors for the 3rd Annual Glass Pumpkin Fest Show and Sale – October 15 and 16. Exciting glassblowing demonstrations take place both days so customers can commission that one of a kind glass pumpkin they have always desired. They can also choose from many unique glass pumpkins that will be for sale. Admission is free for this all ages show at the Glass Academy, located at 25331 Trowbridge in West Dearborn.
“What makes this show so special is the fact that customers can watch the master craftsmen design and color the molten glass, then blow it into the desired shape and form of a pumpkin! It’s completely magical”, explains Michelle Plucinsky, a founding partner of the Glass Academy. “We’ll have our top artists working that day creating the pumpkins so it becomes a great educational experience as well.”
Prices for pumpkins start at $35 and go up to $250 with all pumpkins crafted at the Dearborn studio. Many customers love the fact that they are made by local artists and they buy them as gifts for out of town relatives and friends showing off ‘Michigan Made’. Peggy Richard, a repeat customer comments, “I keep an extra supply of pumpkins on hand so I always have a gift ready when needed. The varied price points make gift giving easy and they also include fact and tag sheets that say “Michigan Made’. That’s a message I like to spread! I’ll be sure to catch this year’s show, it’s always exciting!”
If you like to shop early and avoid the crowds, consider attending the preview party on October 13th where there will be live music, food and beverages, and trained sales staff to help you pick that perfect pumpkin for your home. Tickets cost $50 for this preview evening.
