DEARBORN, Michigan – Fifty three kids, ages 12 and under, caught nearly 55 fish during Saturday’s Fishing Derby at Dearborn Homecoming, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Dearborn and with fishing supplies provided by Eppinger Manufacturing.
This was the seventh year that the Rotary Club has organized and sponsored the increasingly popular event in a reservoir adjacent to the Rouge River and Ford Field.

“The poles and bait are free,” said Merritt Robertson, Dearborn Rotarian and event chair. “It’s a fun activity for families and for our Rotarians.”
The longest fish caught this year was 14 inches long with several ranging from 7 inches to eleven inches. Prizes are awarded for the longest and most fish caught in three different age groups.
At the Club’s next weekly meeting, Robertson surprised Dearborn Rotarian and Fishing Derby volunteer Rick Goward with a certificate and special recognition as “Dearborn Rotary’s Master Fishing Tackle Technician.”
