DEARBORN, Mich. – Due to the extreme heat predicted to continue throughout the week, the City is encouraging residents affected by the weather to take a cooling break by visiting the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Avenue.
The Center Court area has chairs and tables, and space to move around, while staying out of the heat.
The Center is open 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.
In addition to using the Center Court area to cool off, residents who pay a daily fee or who are members at The Center, can choose to use the fitness area and indoor swimming pools.
Senior citizens could also visit the Senior Lounge in The Center to take a respite from the heat. The Senor Citizen area is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Other options include spending time visiting one of Dearborn’s libraries. Branch libraries are open Mondays and Tuesdays, 12:30-8:30 p.m.; Wednesdays, 10:30-5:30 p.m. ; and Thursdays and Fridays 12:30-5:30 p.m.
The Henry Ford Centennial Library, 16301 Michigan Avenue, is open Mondays-Thursdays 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Fridays 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
A reminder that both the libraries and The Center have rules of conduct that must be followed and children must be accompanied by an appropriate guardian at least 13 years of age.
