DEARBORN, Michigan – Nearly 50 children experienced health care from both sides – patient and provider – during the annual celebration of Take Your Child to Work Day at Henry Ford Medical Center – Fairlane. The goal of Take Your Child to Work Day is to help children make the connection between what they learn in school and what they can do professionally in the future.

The kids learned when to call 911 and the basics of performing CPR, were treated for “broken bones” and assorted “injuries,” shown how to read X-rays, and ate food from the colors of the rainbow (blueberries, red grapes, green apples, etc.) as part of a lesson on nutrition. They were also given stickers and magnets with the number for Poison Control while learning about what not to ingest.

Children interacted with health care professionals from Henry Ford Medical Center Emergency Medicine, Orthopedics, Radiology and other departments.
