DEARBORN, Mich. – The Dearborn Historical Museum will be hosting a free public lecture on the evolution of Detroit’s movie palaces on Wednesday, February 2, at 7:30 p.m.
The event is set to take place at the museum’s McFadden-Ross House at 915 Brady Street.
Detroit Opera House marketing manager, Michael Hauser, and curator of collections for the Detroit Historical Society, Marianne Weldon, will be presenting.
The pair has written a series of Detroit-themed history books, the most recent of which, Remembering Hudson’s: The Grand Dame of Detroit Retailing, was released last month. Their book on the lecture topic, Detroit’s Downtown Movie Palaces, was released in 2006.
Detroit’s movie palaces evoke fond, personal memories and carry a visionary history as a forefront of film exhibition that will be made evident during the lecture.
