DEARBORN, Michigan – The public is invited to attend the Edsel Ford vs. Crestwood high school football game Friday night and enjoy the new field house and concession area. Edsel Ford High School will celebrate the annual Military Appreciation night along with dedicating the new field house on on September 19. Students, athletes, and visitors attending sporting event will be able to enjoy the new field house and concession area.
The public is welcome to tour the new facility on Friday, September 19, at 6:15 p.m., prior to the Edsel Ford football game against Crestwood High School. In addition, all military personnel, past and present, will be admitted to the game for free and recognized at the end of the first quarter as part of the school’s annual Military Appreciation night.
This event is located at Edsel Ford High School Field House, 20601 Rotunda Drive in Dearborn. The event will includes activities such as: touring the new field house from 6:15-6:35 pm with snacks provided by EFHS Booster Club; a brief dedication ceremony starting at 6:45 pm along with dignitaries and the football team assembled at the 50 yard line. The National Anthem will be sung at 6:55 pm, and the Edsel Ford Thunderbirds vs. Crestwood Chargers kickoff starting at 7:00 pm.
The field house is a one-story brick building that serves as a new and more efficient way for teams and spectators to enter the athletic track, field area, and bleacher seating. The completely heated facility includes a ticket booth, concession area with a prep kitchen; restrooms; and team rooms for both home and away teams.
“Our students now have a field house that enhances the event experience for student athletes, coaches, spectators, and the parent volunteers who raise funds to support our athletic programs through the sale of concessions during the game,” noted Edsel Ford Principal Scott Casebolt.

The field house will also be a safe haven for teams in the event of severe weather occurring during a game.
The new facility is one of the more visible projects completed this summer utilizing funds from the $76 million S.M.A.R.T. bond approved by voters last November.
This summer, the district spent about $13 million from the $76 million bond funds for construction work at a number of schools across the District.
