DEARBORN, Michigan – State Representative George T. Darany (D-Dearborn) announced his plans to run for re-election as state Representative for Michigan’s 15th House District to a room full of more than 100 supporters at his annual spring celebration in Dearborn Tuesday night. Darany reinforced his commitment to continue his efforts on strengthening the middle class, providing quality education for our children, protecting our seniors, and making Michigan more equitable for all our citizens.
“During my first two terms in office, there were a number of contentious bills signed into law and the budget was continuously balanced on the backs of a handful of groups or individuals,” said Darany. “However, my Democratic colleagues and I refused to sit idly by and continued to fight to ensure that the voices from our districts were heard. I am pleased to say that despite the uphill battle that has been in place since I took office, the leadership in Lansing is finally beginning to listen to our calls to provide some relief to those who have had to withstand the impact of misguided priorities. We are finally witnessing some gradual improvements to the economy and I will continue to stand up to the special interests in Lansing to make sure that the citizens of my hometown and the individuals across this state, are protected.”
While serving in the Michigan House of Representatives, Darany has sponsored and supported legislation to help our Veterans, improve our schools, and make our communities safer. He has also been a vocal advocate for public health and making government more transparent, open and accountable.

He is active with many civic organizations like the Dearborn Rotary Club, Dearborn Goodfellows, Relay for Life, the Dearborn Education Foundation, and he also participates with the Dearborn Firefighters Burn Drive.
Darany is committed to building a robust and more successful Michigan where our communities have the opportunities to move forward in growth and prosperity. “It has been an honor and a privilege to represent Dearborn,” said Darany. “I have been very touched and humbled by the amount of people who have shared their trials and triumphs with me and who have put their trust in my ability to move our state forward. However, the fight is far from over and there is still a lot of work to be done. We need to invest in the future of Michigan and ensure that our schools have the resources they need to help prepare our students for the good-paying jobs of the 21st hard-working men and women of this state have the right opportunities so they can continue to provide for their families, pay their bills and strive for the life that they want to build. We need to make sure that we establish safeguards for our most vulnerable so that no one is in jeopardy of being left behind. In order to do this, we need to come together and reinvest and refocus our priorities so that we find solutions that will rebuild our state. I committed to this fight and with the support of my hometown, I know that Michigan’s best days are still ahead of us.”
