DEARBORN, Mich. – As part of National Night Out, the Dearborn Area Chamber of Commerce and Dearborn Heights Police have teamed up to offer local families an alternative to crime and drugs wrapped up in a nice summer event, Tuesday, August 7, 2012 from 10 am – 8 pm. Oakwood Healthcare sponsors the annual Family Fun Day this year.
Families have the opportunity to visit over 40 participating Chamber member businesses from 10am to 4pm and collect tickets that will be used to redeem prizes (while supplies last). The more businesses visited, the more tickets to win. Most businesses will host their own activities such as clowns, face painting, free drawings, in addition to special incentive offers including discounted food, dessert samples, drawings, games, etc.
At the start of the day, each family will begin at Midway Sports Entertainment on Van Born Rd and will receive a map directing them to all participating businesses including restaurants, eye care, dental care, retail locations, accounting services, apartments, schools and churches. The fun continues from 4 pm to 8 pm at Van Houten Splash Park on Silvery Lane. Besides the prize tent, there will also be bouncy inflatables for the children, “Happy, the Clown”, Target Fun Tent, and entertainment including the Salvation Army Citadel Band. The Chamber of Commerce will be selling concessions. This year will also feature a family movie on the large screen at 8 pm, hosted by Park It.
A family pass is $10 which includes lots of extras. Each family member will receive a free game of bowling and shoes at Cherry Hill Lanes (Inkster Rd & Cherry Hill), and a free game of miniature golf at Midway Golf (Van Born Rd). They will also receive a hot dog, chips, ice cream and water at Van Houten Park from 4 pm-8 pm. Please note some restrictions apply.
