DEARBORN, Mich. – This year, as part of the annual Dearborn Homecoming Festival on August 3, 2012, the Dearborn Area Chamber will partner with the Dearborn Community Fund and the City of Dearborn for “Special All-Stars Day.” The event, patterned after a similar event during the Traverse City Cherry Festival, was created to give children and adults with special needs an opportunity to ride select rides and have some fun in the sun.
From 9 am – noon at Ford Field, on Monroe Street just north of Morley, volunteers will offer games, activities, a dance party, face painting and more. From 9 – 11 am, All-Stars will be the guests of Wade Amusements and enjoy selected ride such as The Fun House, Tea Cup, Tilt-a-Whirl, Ferris Wheel, Bumper Cars, Merry-go-round, Super Slide and Bumble Bee for free. Light refreshments will be served in the shelter next to the tennis courts. Wheelchair repair and a visit from a Dearborn fire truck will also be offered.
Several local groups are donating their services to offer this morning of fun and include Wade Shows, Inc., H.Y.P.E. Athletics Community, Polish League of American Veterans, Dearborn Fire Department, Wright & Filippis, Besek Photography, Center Street Wealth Strategies, Memberfocus Community C.U., Aflac, Lil’ Jimi Dearborn, Bob Evans Restaurant and Iversens bakery.
