DEARBORN, Michigan – The fall season will kick off with the best in barbecue dining and a lively musical performance at Dearborn’s Premier Tailgate Party and season opening concert of the Dearborn Symphony on Friday, Sept. 30, 6-7:30 p.m. at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center.

Tailgate participants are invited to wear their favorite team colors as they enjoy a delicious dinner from Slows Bar BQ and Dearborn Sausage Co. and a lively jazz performance by “Swing Set,” Dearborn High School’s elite jazz band.
Following dinner, the award-winning Dearborn Symphony, led by Guest Conductor Leif Bjaland, will perform an upbeat program of iconic sports-themed musical favorites including Chariots of Fire, Rocky, Monday Night Football and college fight songs.
This “Music of Champions” concert marks the opening of the Dearborn Symphony’s 55th season.
Back by popular demand, Guest Conductor Leif Bjaland is recognized as a dynamic and exciting American conductor, Bjaland is Music Director of the Waterbury Symphony in Connecticut where he has received enormous enthusiasm and critical praise for his performances and imaginative programming. Following a 2014 performance with the Chicago Philharmonic, Bjaland was critically acclaimed as “…clearly in synch with [the] music and led a commanding and quite thrilling performance.”
