Dearborn, Michigan – The second of two large offsite tented Adopt-a-Thons this summer takes place on Saturday, August 22nd from 10a-4pm in the parking lot in front of Home Depot in Allen Park in the Fairlane Green II shopping mall. Home Depot is near the Oakwood boulevard entrance to the mall, described locally as “On the Hill”, just off Southfield freeway. The Dearborn Animal Shelter plans to have 50 animals or more available for adoption that day including playful kittens, adult cats and all shapes and sizes of dogs.
Counselors will be on hand to help potential adopters find their new best friend, including a meet and greet area to get to know new dog family members a little better in a separate section. Attendees will enjoy adoption specials and be able to purchase Fido Bakery treats for their canine best friends.
The Back to School season frequently equates to a more regular routine again for families and opens up more opportunities for bringing a new pet family member into their homes.
According to Elaine Greene, Executive Director, Friends For the Dearborn Animal Shelter, “Summer vacations are winding down and families are preparing for a new school year which tends to open the door for considering a new animal companion.
Greene continued, our second Adopt-A-Thon, in a busy, highly trafficked location, gives families a great time to come and see if their new pet family member is waiting for them under our tent”.
This is the third year in a row that the event is being hosted in the parking lot of Home Depot in Allen Park and the second time this summer.
