Dearborn, MI – Whether fans are listening to their favorite music at a summer festival; enjoying free Wi-Fi on their phones at The Palace of Auburn Hills and Ford Field; or rooting for the White Sox at US Cellular Field or the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park, chances are the system has been constructed and installed by KLA Laboratories, Inc. The family-owned Dearborn, Michigan based technology company celebrates its 85th anniversary delivering world-class designs, installations and quality service to its customers. KLA has also added a new Technical Engineering Center at 15201 Century Drive in Dearborn for the vast array of solutions provided to customers. The company will celebrate its anniversary and expansion with a ribbon cutting ceremony and an open house on June 25 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Since 1929, KLA has grown to become a national industry leader in design, installation, certification and commissioning of communication systems working with the automotive, entertainment, telecommunications, financial, industrial and healthcare industries. Known for its creative solutions, the company has played a key role in providing systems for a variety of information technology needs at Ford Motor Company and upgraded communications infrastructure at many General Motors facilities. KLA’s rapidly growing client roster includes Verizon Wireless, Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions, Michigan State University’s Spartan Stadium, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Toyota Motors, the National Football League, United States Army, United States Air Force, Henry Ford Health Systems, UPS, Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and Fujitsu, Inc. KLA continues its work across North America in stadiums, arenas, entertainment centers, medium-sized businesses and governmental entities.
The new 20,000 square foot KLA location will house offices and provide additional space for network and wireless in-building services. The additional Dearborn location is an extension of its headquarters at 6800 Chase Road in Dearborn. KLA also has an office in Columbus, OH and a presence in Canada and Mexico.
“KLA has been a part of my family for generations and our goal has always been to help our clients with the seemingly impossible, whether it’s creating a unique solution or a new innovative way to use their communications technology. We continue to grow and expand with our clients and some have been with us for more than 80 years,” said Matthew O’Bryan, president and COO. “To see the business continue to grow, while celebrating 85 years in the metro Detroit community, is overwhelmingly gratifying.”
Founded in the 1920s, KLA was originally a small radio/electronics and sound systems company, which served as advanced technology for the time. O’Bryan took over the family business in 2002 from his mother, Norma O’Bryan, who managed and grew the company after the passing of her husband, Pat O’Bryan. Since then, O’Bryan has continued to expand the company to more than 150 employees, moving it into new fields, such as network and wireless design, staging and implementation services.
