Dearborn, MI – The Dearborn Community Arts Council is pleased to announce the 2015 Distinguished Speaker will be Ms. Cindy Olsen, Edsel & Eleanor Ford House Curator and Director of Material Culture, at the highly anticipated First Lady’s Tea honoring Dearborn’s First Lady, Christina O’Reilly on Saturday, April 25 at the Dearborn Hills Golf Course Clubhouse at 1pm.
Ms. Olsen will discuss her roles as Curator and Director at The Ford Estates, the importance of historical legacies and the challenges of not only keeping history alive but creating new ways to celebrate those legacies. One such creative celebration is the exhibition she curated, “Women Who Motor” currently at The Edsel & Eleanor Ford House through June 15.
The First Lady’s Tea presents guests with a fun filled afternoon High Tea and Luncheon which begins with signature mimosas and live music provided bySteve Jarosz, an accomplished classical and flamenco guitarist, creating the perfect atmosphere to enjoy the wide range of creative table settings. Local arts supporters, prominent community members and cultural and business organizations all gather to share their artistically decorated tea tables. There will also be door prizes, gift bags and special raffles for “Teatime Treasures.”
This traditional High Tea, as popularized recently by the hit PBS show “Downton Abbey”, has been a staple of Dearborn and surrounding communities’ seasonal Spring activities for many years. This year’s First Lady’s Tea features an assortment of premium fine teas complimented by a Michigan-style salad, scones, croissants and muffins, and a delicious array of assorted tea sandwiches, all followed by a tropical fruit platter and a buffet of tempting gourmet desserts.
