DEARBORN, Michigan – The Dearborn City Beautiful Commission presented the annual Residential Standard of Excellence awards on October 8 to homeowners judged to have maintained the appearance of their properties in an outstanding fashion.
Award citations were presented during a ceremony at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center. Winners were selected from each of the 17 districts created by City Beautiful Commissioners to ensure all sections of Dearborn are represented. Additionally, runner-ups in each district will receive a special display decal in the mail.
Christ Episcopal Church received a special Dearborn Pride award for its community garden at 120 N. Military.
Mayor John B O’Reilly Jr. thanked City Beautiful Commission members for their work in selecting the winners and joined them in honoring the awardees.
“Dearborn residents have always taken great pride in their city,” O’Reilly said. “We thank these residents for taking particular pride in their property and for putting forth that extra effort to make their homes something special. Having these homes and these homeowners in our community makes Dearborn that much more attractive and welcoming.”
Mary Petchlikoff serves as chairperson of the City Beautiful Commission. Commissioners Susan Curran and Erin Byrnes are co-chairs of the Neighborhood Pride committee.
The Dearborn City Beautiful Commission recognizes homeowners whose extraordinary care and creativity make their property pop, whether they have a neat and tidy bungalow or a dramatic sprawling showpiece. The awards help encourage all residents to keep their homes and gardens beautiful.
