DEARBORN HEIGHTS, Michigan — Jumana Judeh of Dearborn Heights was recently inducted as an Honorary Member of the Practicing Valuers Association of India (PVAI) due to her expertise on valuation methodologies and challenges. Such an honor has only been extended three other times since the organization’s inception in 1999.
Judeh, who holds the prestigious designation of MAI from the Appraisal Institute, was recently invited to India to participate in PVAI’s 15th Annual Conference. “To be invited to India and presented with such a high honor is truly humbling,” Judeh stated.
Judeh was also the featured speaker at the conference where she addressed the issue of “Valuation in a Distressed Economy: Detroit As A Case Study”. In her 45-minute presentation, Judeh discussed the impact of Detroit’s bankruptcy on property values and differentiated between the recent rise in investments in the City’s Downtown versus the high abandonment rate within the neighborhoods.
Using a theme of “Mo-Town to No-Town,” Judeh highlighted the City’s rich history, which was heavily dependent on the auto industry and the fact that such primary dependence was one of the contributing factors to its economic decline.
“Based on the meetings I had with several attendees, I learned that there is a surge in international investments in the Mumbai region and valuers are seeking to adopt methodologies and standards that will align them with their global,” Judeh stated. “Real estate is one of the basic sources of wealth in the global economy and consistency in valuation methodology and application is critical for the future stability of such wealth,” concluded Judeh.
Judeh speaks regularly in the metropolitan area as well as nationally and internationally on valuation methodology. The Practicing Valuers Association of India is comprised of members who are valuation professionals and exists for the benefit of financial institutions, taxation authorities, accountants and decision makers.
