DEARBORN, Michigan – High schools students interested in spending a year abroad, learning about a new culture and language, are encouraged to apply for the Rotary Youth Exchange Program no later than September 30, 2014. Information and applications are now available online on the homepage of the Rotary Club of Dearborn website, www.DearbornRotary.org.
The Rotary Youth Exchange Program provides students between the ages of 16 and 18 the opportunity of a lifetime. Students are sponsored by a local Rotary Club in the United States and in their host country, where they attend high school.
“The Rotary Youth Exchange Program is one of the premier programs of Rotary International and it is supported by Rotary Clubs all around the world,” said Rick Enright, president of the Rotary Club of Dearborn. “It’s not uncommon for students to say it was the ‘best year of their life’.”
The Rotary Youth Exchange Program is open to current high school students and students graduating in 2015. The Youth Exchange Program is for the 2015 – 2016 school year and students leave in August 2015.
Exchange students and their parents are guided through orientation with information about the country of their exchange year and the rules of the Rotary Youth Exchange Program. Exchange students typically stay with two or three Rotary-approved families and receive a monthly stipend for incidental expenses.
Rotary Youth Exchange students need to be above-average students who are eager for the chance to try new things and meet new people.
Application deadline is Sept. 30, 2014
