DEARBORN, Michigan – The Dearborn Symphony is thrilled to welcome back to the stage for a third time Russian pianist Gleb Ivanov to perform one of the crown jewels in the piano repertoire, Grieg’s powerful, tender and emotional Piano Concerto in A Minor. Ivanov has been critically acclaimed by the New York Times as “a young super-virtuoso with musical sensitivity and an appreciation of style to go with the thunder and lightning.”
An attention-grabbing boom opens the concert with dramatic chords from Suppé’s sparkling Morning, Noon and Night in Vienna Overture, composed in 1844. The overture’s purpose was to get the attention of the audience, quiet the house and set the scene for the entertainment, just what it will do for our concert!
Next up, spellbinding Russian pianist Gleb Ivanov brings heartfelt passion to one of the most deeply romantic and popular pieces of music ever composed, Edvard Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A Minor.
Paul Yeon Lee’s “Rapid Fire” opens the second half of the concert. The program climaxes with Stravinksy’s dazzling “The Firebird.” The rousing, very full and powerful Hollywood ending leaves the audience uplifted and soaring like the beautiful “Firebird!”
Spring Fever! featuring Gleb Ivanov will be presented at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center on Friday, April 12, 2013 at 8:00 p.m. Concert tickets are available by calling 313 565 2424.
