DEARBORN, Michigan – Dearborn’s Human Resources Department will launch a new software system to improve the hiring process for job seekers and personnel staff.
Job seekers will be able to quickly apply to positions via the city’s website.
Candidates can apply for current vacancies or submit an inquiry card to be notified of openings that become available within their area of interest.
In 2012, Human Resources partnered with NEOGOV, the nation’s largest cloud software for HR in government and education. Using this technology, HR and other departments can access online records to expedite hiring and provide even greater accountability when selecting new employees.
This new software streamlines the job search and application process for job seekers and will allow candidates to submit applications electronically.
It also allows hiring managers to more effectively create minimum qualifications to sort through a pool of applicants. With the new system, administrative and technical maintenance costs are reduced, as this workload is handled by the NEOGOV system.
“We believe the NEOGOV software will be more convenient for job applicants and streamline the process for city administrators who are committed to selecting the best candidates to serve the people of Dearborn,” said Al Wozniak, Human Resources administrator.
“This is an important step for the HR Department, and part of Mayor O’Reilly’s commitment to use technological solutions to increase efficiency,” said Wozniak. “We’re moving forward with this improvement with the approval of the Civil Service Commission and support of the City Council.”
The City of Dearborn now joins more than 1,000 organizations across the country that have instituted cutting edge online technology for personnel management.
