DEARBORN, Michigan – A full bounty of glass pumpkins are ready for picking during the Glass Academy’s 4th Annual Glass Pumpkin Fest Show and Sale October 20 and 21 from 10am-6pm. Mesmerizing glassblowing demonstrations take place both days from 10-5pm, allowing customers to commission one-of-a-kind glass pumpkins suited to their décor and personal preference. Throughout the studio will be hundreds of original glass pumpkins also available for purchase in this seasonal show, a Metro Detroit favorite. Admission is free for this all ages, family friendly event, at the Glass Academy, located at 25331 Trowbridge in West Dearborn.
“When buying handmade- you get a story, an inspiration. A viewpoint from a real person, a color choice or pattern that was inspired and refined.” Explains Michelle Plucinsky, owner of the Glass Academy. “We play with the current trends and try new patterns, shapes and colors. This year we’re really excited to debut the “sugar” line. It’s color added to the surface of the glass and only slightly melting in, giving the illusion of real sugar. I anticipate these pumpkins to be the first to sell!!”
Prices for pumpkins start at $35 and go up from there based on size, color, and pattern. All pumpkins are handcrafted using centuries old traditional glassblowing methods and are made at the Dearborn studio.
“I’ve left my pumpkin out all year,” comments Peggy Richards, Event Manager at the Dearborn Area Chamber. “It was just so beautiful that I couldn’t pack it away at the end of the fall season and decided to enjoy it all year long! I’m looking forward to creating my Thanksgiving display around the new pumpkins I find at this year’s show, especially one of the ‘Sugar’ styles!”
