DEARBORN, MI – The Dearborn Firefighters will challenge Dearborn Teachers in a hockey game Saturday night. In an effort to raise funds for the Dearborn Firefighters Burn Drive and the Dearborn Education Foundation, firefighters and teachers will square-off in a fast-moving, slap-stick hockey game on October 15 at 7:00 pm in the University of Michigan-Dearborn Field House, 4901 Evergreen, Dearborn 48128.
The game will close out Fire Safety Week. Special guest singer Karen Newman from the Detroit Red Wings will start the game with the singing of the national anthem. The event is free and all donations collected at the door will be split between the Firefighters Burn Drive and the Education Foundation.
The Dearborn Fire Department will also hold a special Open House Saturday at Fire Station #2, 19800 Outer Drive, Dearborn, from noon to 2:00 pm. The fire station open house includes free hot dogs, a medical helicopter landing, face painting, hands-on firetruck display. Children will have the opportunity to spray the fire hose, try on fire gear, and participate in other family friendly activities.
The Dearborn Education Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit organization that helps enhance the education that students receive from the Dearborn Public Schools through grants to fund technology, equipment and innovative programs not funded by the school district’s budget.
