DEARBORN, Mich. – The Dearborn Youth Symphony (DYS) will present its season finale concert, on Sunday, May 15 at 4 p.m. in the Michael A. Guido Theater of the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center (The Center).
The Season Finale concert will include performances of the Flute Choir, the Concert Strings, and Symphony Orchestras.
In addition, the 2011 DYS soloist, Marvin Johnson will be performing Mozart’s Allegro maestoso from Flute Concerto No.1 with the Symphony Orchestra. The symphony orchestra will also be performing selections from West Side Story and Stravinsky’s Finale from the “Firebird Suite”.
The DYS was formed in 1975 to provide young performers with symphonic ensemble experience and to foster interest in instrumental music. Today, with the sponsorship of the Dearborn Recreation Department, strong parental volunteer efforts, and dedicated conductors, the DYS continues to nurture and challenge musicians ages 8 to 18 from around the Metro Detroit area.
General admission tickets are $10 and $8 for children and seniors.
