DEARBORN, MI – Roman Village, located at 9924 Dix, might be off the beaten path — but is well worth the journey. Established in 1964 by the Rugiero family, Roman Village offers traditional Italian cuisine that is fresh, simple and delicious.
The pastas are made fresh daily in the family owned pasta factory, and are light in texture, and quite flavorful. The sauce on ravioli, cannelloni, and pizza was a perfect blend of spice and sweetness — we tried them all.
Fresh baked bread is served quickly. There was only one problem with the bread basket — it takes a serious test of will power not to eat the entire basket while waiting for the next course.
Just for fun try the Spaghetti Carbonara Alla Bocelli a recipe Andrea Bocelli prepared himself in the restaurant kitchen.
The restaurant was clean and comfortable, and the service we received was top notch. Dress is casual. ( “No bum wear.”) Most dinner entrées run between $10 and $15. The amazing entrées are complimented by decadent desserts, coffee drinks and a full bar. Be prepared to take food home, since the portions are generous.
It is wonderful to see a long term, quality Dearborn establishment alive and well amidst the turbulent economy of our times. Salud Roman Village and the Rugiero family. We look forward to many more years of simple Italian goodness.
