DEARBORN, Mich. – Artists at the Glass Academy open their studio doors in celebration of the Holidays, showcasing live glassblowing demonstrations and unique hand crafted glass for sale in Dearborn, MI. “Holiday Celebrations in Glass” takes place December 4th and 5th from 10-4pm. Admission is free for all ages with stocking stuffers start at $10 and many mid-range items from $50-$150. The show takes place at the Glass Academy, located at 25331 Trowbridge, near Gulley Road and Michigan Avenue in West Dearborn.
“Visitors love watching the hot glass twist and turn into magnificent shapes,” comments Bailey Smith, a display specialist at the Glass Academy. “It’s so interesting to watch that it becomes addictive and you don’t want to leave!”
“Items for sale this year include well seasoned favorites like our signature ornaments, candy canes, and decorative bowls,” explains Chris Nordin, a designer for this year’s collection. “We have also added some new products that give back to the community. For example, we have a whole range of items in pink that are perfect gifts for Breast Cancer awareness. Or, individuals who buy our ‘Garpota’ flower pot, will find that we are donating a portion of the sales to the Greening of Detroit, one of our favorite charities here in Michigan.”
“This is one way we can introduce people to organizations that we feel make a difference in our lives and the communities we live in,” states Michelle Plucinsky, marketing manager for the Glass Academy.
A special preview party will be held on December 2nd from 6-8pm with hors d’oeuvres, first pick of new work, and free gift wrapping. Tickets are $50 and can be purchased on-line or by phone.
