Dearborn Heights, Mich. – Parents of toddlers through middle school students are invited to attend an Open House at Dearborn Heights Montessori Center (DHMC) from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 14, 2010. The school, which includes toddler through eighth grade, is located at 466 N. John Daly in Dearborn Heights.
Families are invited to tour the classrooms and talk with teachers and staff about the school’s programs and activities including toddler, preschool, kindergarten, lower and upper elementary, and middle school.
Children are welcome to accompany parents to the Open House, and light refreshments will be served.
“This is an excellent opportunity to answer parents’ questions and share the unique advantages of an authentic Montessori education,” said Laura Springer, admissions director. “This is also our first year to offer a Montessori toddler program, so there’s a lot of interest from new and soon-to-be parents.”
According to Springer, most students in the older grades have attended DHMC since preschool, because their parents have recognized the value of a Montessori education, and many families have more than one child enrolled.
As an independent non-profit educational community, Dearborn Heights Montessori Center provides an individualized learning experience, enabling each child, from toddler through eighth grade, to reach his or her potential. Respect for children, a strong commitment to non-violence, and a deep belief in the value of education are all principles upon which the school functions.
In addition to toddler, preschool, kindergarten, elementary and middle school programs, Dearborn Heights Montessori Center provides before and after school day care. The school also offers a theme-based summer program that includes daily math and language, art, physical education and technology, and lots of arts and crafts, picnics, outdoor time, music, stories, games and field trips.
