DEARBORN, Mich. – Dr. Chris Mei is helping children in need – one smile at a time. Over the summer Dr. Mei’s annual teeth whitening services continued to Make A Difference for the Dearborn Education Foundation. Every year Dr. Mei and his team at West Village Dental Care donate 100% of all proceeds to help children facing serious health and educational problems.

During the four month campaign, Dr. Mei raised over $1,700 with half the funds being split between the Dearborn Education Foundation and the Neurosurgery Department of Children’s Hospital of Michigan. The other half goes to the Smiles for Life Foundation to be distributed to other worthy and approved charities across the U.S. and Canada.
“We had a great campaign this year and would like to thank everyone in the community who came out and helped to make it a success by purchasing whitening services during our campaign”, explains Dr. Mei, a Crown Council dentist located here in Dearborn. When asked why he participates with this program, Dr. Mei says “this is my way of trying to give back for all the support we received slightly over a year ago when my son had a brain tumor removed. Children’s Hospital of Michigan was fantastic and the team at Howard Elementary school here in Dearborn was extremely supportive at such a difficult time.”
Brian Mosallam, Chairman of the Dearborn Education Foundation shares his gratitude with this statement, “Dr. Mei is involved in our schools and has found a way year-after-year to share his resources in a way that positively impacts our teachers and students and his efforts are greatly appreciated.” Over the years, Dr. Mei and his team at West Village Dental Care have donated over $70,000 to the children’s charity.

The Education Foundation is a licensed 501c3 non-profit organization that helps enhance the education that students receive from Dearborn Public Schools through grants to fund technology, equipment and innovative programs not funded by the school district’s budget. Since its inception the organization has funded more than $1,200,000 million in grants. All funds raised by the Foundation go to fund teacher grants that are submitted throughout the year.
